Financial Report

John Springer presented the financial report.

Receipts for the year are $2,875.00, all for current year dues except $300.00 from 2012 and $25.00 for 2014.

Disbursements:

Disbursements so far for the year are $2,119.09 and are comprised of:

General Comments:

The cash balance of $19,271.34 includes $14,087.50 in a capital reserve fund.

We have fourteen dues paying members in 2013.

It was also noted that the club spent on activities was close to the amount taken in on dues. Had it not for a few canceled activities the amounts would have been even closer.

At the previous meeting, the Directors set the annual dues at $200.00 a year, and to maintain the capital improvement fund at its current level.

Motion to accept treasury report by Steve Lowe, seconded John Owens, all in favor.

Secretary Report

Lynn Easley presented the secretary's report.

The membership was reminded of the club's website, www.lpycboating.com, and that on average one inquiry about either the club, or boating questions about the Lake Palestine area are received. Bob Pryor added that he has taken several people on boat tours that had came from inquiries received.

New stories about the club are always welcomed from the membership, and the minutes from the meetings are posted to the website.

Social Director Report

The social report was presented by Dicksie Walker.

Club sponsored social events are scheduled every other month. In 2013, a few events were canceled either to bad weather, or most of the members had previous commitments. The July 4th party always has a good turnout with a prime viewing area at Emerald Bay for the fireworks display, and this year a reading of the Declaration of Independence by the members was a popular addition.

The sailboat races have a good participation with most races having 3 to 5 boats participating, and participation is important in winning the series.

In addition, Bob Pryor handles an informal gathering at Coyote Sams every third Friday of the month that has good participation.

Old Business:

Marina Faculties

The docks at Emerald Bay continue to deteriorate, “A” dock continues to sink. Several boats on E dock had large amounts of water in their cockpits due to the heavy rains this fall, and one of them actually sank. Unless the owners change their minds, any negotiations with them are essentially dead.

In 2013, with the future looking bleak for Emerald Bay. Several members approached Monty Shank, of the Upper Neches River Authority, about possible locations for slips for deep draft boats. After surveying several locations, but due to depth considerations they were rejected. The group then approached Brad Root, owner of Lake Palestine Marina. Brad was agreeable to expanding the marina, and with the Upper Neches River Authorities approval, construction was started, and finished by summer.

Sailboat Racing Series

John Owens presented the awards or the 2013 race series for Jim Stevenson who couldn't make the meeting. Bob Coker was awarded First place with a hand painted glass trophy, John Owens accepted the trophy on Bob Cokers behalf, and Lynn Easley was awarded 2nd place with a hand painted glass trophy.

Plaque For Monty Shank

A plaque for Monty Shank was approved and bought, but due to his busy schedule, he has been unable to attend any of the events. Several members plan to present the plaque to him at his office at a future to be determined date.

Recognition of Club Members

Special recognition of Rick and Dicksie Walker by Steve Lowe for being the driving force behind the club, and for John Owens for his determination to keep the club going through difficult times.

Reports of Committees:

No committees are currently active.

Installment of Newly Elected Officers and Directors:

With no new nominations from the members, the re-election of John Springer and Warren Lyons as directors was accepted by acclimation, as well as the directors recommendations for officers. For 2014, the officers will be, Rick Walker as Commodore, Warren Lyon as Vice Commodore, John Springer as Treasurer, and Lynn Easley as Secretary.

In addition, Dana and Sherry Adams will serve as Social Directors for the 2014 year.

Paul Lohr was appointed Powerboat Captain, Jim Stevenson will again serve as Racing Captain, and Dicksie Walker as Sailboat Captain (Admiral)

New Business:

New Marina Possibilities

Rick Walker is still looking at other property on the lake after negotiations on Emerald Bay concluded. One property has deep water access and is well protected from the weather. Tentative approval has been given to build extra slips should they acquire the property. Further details at a later date.

Commodore Plaque

A plaque would have been presented to Rick Walker for his service as Commodore last year, but seems it was left in someones car trunk.

Hydrological Survey

The Upper Neches River Authority has commissioned a new hydrological survey of Lake Palestine.

Looking forward to 2014

In closing remarks on the upcoming year. Rick can remember the days when there was always people that came out to work on their boats, or just hang out to socialize. With most of the marina problems in the past hopefully behind us, he expressed hope that those kinds of activities will resume

Adjournment:

Motion to adjourn by Steve Lowe, Seconded by Dicksie Walker. Approved.
