MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES
Present at meeting: Ben Hooks, Steve Lowe, Chuck Brazell, Dana Adams, and Lynn Easley.

Old Business
LPYC Caps:
The directors were reminded to follow up with Bob Pryor on LPYC caps and decide if to order more caps.
Fall Regatta Committee:
The Fall Regatta Committee met to see if everyone was still willing to serve on the Fall Regatta committee. Both Dana Adams and Bob Pryor have agreed to serve. The next meeting is currently scheduled for September 19th. An email announcing the event will be sent out 2-3 weeks ahead of the Fall Regatta .
Saturday Races Series:
Ben Hooks, Chuck Brazell, Jim Stevenson, and Bob Coker met to discuss a change to the Saturday Race Series. It was agreed for those that want to start together could start at 1:59:45, which is the time that Ben Hooks starts which is used as the base line for the other starting times. Jim will correct the elapsed time for the other boats. The change will take effect immediately.
Proposed Changes to the LPYC Race Series for 2018:
The Saturday Race series would remain as it currently is.
The Wednesday Night races would be setup with a Spring and Fall Series. The Spring and Fall Wednesday Night races will both allow up to 5 throw-out races so only your best five race times will count. The Wednesday night races will be sailed using the Portsmouth handicap system. It is planned to discuss this more at the next meeting about how it can fit in with the Saturday races, possible locations of the race course, and the general format of the race series.
Director Appointments:
Chuck Brazell and Ben Hooks talk with two members about filling the remaining term of the recent director opening. One ex-director was also mentioned as a possibility.
New Business
Upcoming Social Events:
The next social event is on September 15th, at the Saltgrass Restaurant. The next even will be the LPYC Fall Regatta the last weekend of October. Since the club will be cooking at the dock that Saturday, no Third Friday event was scheduled.
The Christmas Party is currently scheduled for the 2nd Saturday in December at Eagle’s Nest, and was suggested the Annual meeting would be held at Emerald Bay, the third Saturday of January. One of the directors that is a member at Emerald Bay will check to see if the site is available that Saturday evening. Emails will be sent out to remind members of the upcoming events.
The LPYC had discussed the possibility of paying for one of the Third Fridays, but with the upcoming meals at the Regatta, Christmas and Annual meetings, that would have to be postponed.

The next meeting is scheduled for October 10th, at 5:00 PM at Ben Hooks office.
